Main Street Gym’s Fernando Guerrero (14-0, 12 KO’s) won his bout impressively in “his town”, Salisbury, Maryland. On June 19 at the Wicomico Youth & Civic Center, the undefeated Guerrero floored Brian “The Assassin” Norman (17-9, 5 KO’s) twice in the second round. Following the second knockdown, referee Kenny Chevalier had no choice but to stop bout after a “woozy” Norman failed to respond to the referee. During the first round, Guerrero was content to stay on the ropes and block numerous shots fired by Norman, and throw a few shots of his own. It was the second round when Guerrero went on the attack, snapping back Norman’s head with crisp, powerful shots. Guerrero stunned Norman midway through the round sending him to the canvas and into the ropes. Norman got up and Guerrero was patient as he went after Norman again. Guerrero landed a barrage of solid shots hurting Norman and sending him to the canvas for a final time. The bout was stopped at 2:35 of the second round.
Main Street Gym’s Alexis Guerrero (1-0) won his professional debut by majority decision over Rodrika Ray (2-2, 1 KO) in a 4-round cruiserweight bout. In a battle of unbeatens, Farah Ennis (11-0, 5 KO’s) defeated Bobby Jordan (6-1-1, 2 KO’s) by unanimous decision. Shawn Porter (9-0, 8 KO’s) scored an electrifying first round knockout against Brandon Wooten (6-14, 2 KO’s). Dominic Wade (3-0, 3 KO’s) defeated Anthony Cannon (4-13, 1 KO), scoring a second round TKO.
